As an adult I have learned to love a good rotisserie chicken. I kinda find it my super power to get all the meat off the bone.
Over the last couple of years I’ve figured out the best place to buy and the easiest way to store a rotisserie chicken. Did I mention it is so versatile to use? Yup, you can use it in so many recipes and it makes life so easy!
You can pretty much get a chicken at any local grocery store, which is super convent, but have you seen some of those birds?!? They are tiny and pre inflation prices they wanted $7-10 for it! On the other hand Sams and Costco have big birds (LOL) and charged less than $5 for them! So if your going to get one try and get it from the big box stores.
Now here’s the trick when you bring it home let it come to room temp, they can sometimes still be hot depending on when you put it in your basket and how long your drive home was. Once you are able to handle it and not burn yourself pull the meat off the bone and put in a Tupperware container. I suggest pulling the skin off too if you are going to eat it right away, but nutritionally the skin is just extra fat that tastes good but we don’t need.
When you put the bird in the fridge and then pull it off the bone I find it is more of a challenge. If you do it while it’s still warm it practically falls off the bone and you don’t have to fight it. Give it a try next time!

I like to use the chicken as a snack, in a snack, make chicken salad, serve it with our meal, throw it in a soup, or use it in a taco. Because it is pre cooked there are so many options for how to eat it and it was a time saver.
I purchased one from Walmart this week, leading up to Christmas and it wasn’t the best chicken and the pick up people put it in the fridge while they waited for me to get to the store, I was fighting it taking it off the bone! But it was still a great purchase. I had it in a big salad for dinner instead of going out to eat! My kids love to dip it in honey mustard and I’ll serve with our favorite BBQ sauce too!
Short story long! The possibilities are endless with a rotisserie chicken just make sure you get a juicy one and handle it while it’s still warm!
